“The spirit of our endeavour is, To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield”

Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo, President

Organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean – Centre for Global Studies (PAM-CGS) and the NATO Defense College Foundation (NDCF)

——————

The global security landscape is becoming increasingly complex and fragmented. The resurgence of power politics and the growing scepticism towards the post-World War II international order, along with doubts about the role of established multilateral governance systems and conflict resolution mechanisms, contribute to a decline in trust in existing peacekeeping and enforcement frameworks, whether bilateral, multilateral, or even minilateral.

In addition to the influence of powerful economic forces, strategic fragmentation is increasingly driven by political and social dislocation, which further complicates unilateral security policies and hampers effective responses to common security challenges.

In this context, regional actors and alliances are playing an increasingly significant and dynamic role in preserving stability and fostering dialogue. This is especially true across the Euro-Mediterranean area, the Levant, and the Gulf, where interconnected political, economic, and security dynamics create ripple effects that extend far beyond the region. Regional cooperation remains one of the most effective means for countries and institutions to tackle shared challenges through coordination, trust-building, and practical collaboration.
