Giovanni Orsina is Professor of Contemporary History and Director of the School of Government at LUISS Guido Carli University. He has taught at the Universities of Bologna, L’Aquila and Sapienza University of Rome. He has been a Visiting Scholar at University of Oxford, Sciences Po, and École Normale Supérieure de Cachan. He is a founding member and Vice-President of the Association for Political History.
Orsina is the author of six monographs and around fifty essays, and has edited thirteen volumes and special journal issues on twentieth-century European politics, published in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. His most recent publications include Una democrazia eccentrica. Partitocrazia, antifascismo, antipolitica (2022); La democrazia del narcisismo. Breve storia dell’anti-politica (2018); and Il berlusconismo nella storia d’Italia (2013; English translation 2014; French translation 2018).
Orsina is a columnist for the Turin-based daily newspaper La Stampa. He regularly provides commentary on Italian and European politics for a wide range of media outlets and has been interviewed, among others, by the BBC, CNN, Bloomberg News, Al Jazeera International, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Economist, Le Figaro, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, El Mundo, El País, and Yomiuri Shimbun.
