Luigi Narbone is co-founder and Vice-president of the Mediterranean Platform, a Rome-based think and act non-profit organisation as well as a professor of geopolitics and EU foreign policy at Luiss Guido Carli University. From 2015 to 2021 he was Director of the Middle East Directions Programme and professor of the Peace and Security at the European University Institute. Before moving to academia, he had a long career at the United Nations and the European Union. From 2008 to 2012 he was EU Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries. He has extensive experience bridging academia, policy and international diplomacy and numerous publications on topics related to geopolitics, security and geo-economics of the Middle East and North Africa, Gulf countries, and the Mediterranean.
